Während die Bundesregierung vor wenigen Jahren noch behauptete, dass keine Waffenexporte in Kriegs- und Krisengebiete außerhalb von EU und NATO genehmigt würden, hat dies zu Zeiten des Kriegs in Ukraine und Gaza keinerlei Bedeutung mehr.
Seit 2022 hat Deutschland Kriegsgerät im Umfang von 28 Milliarden für die Ukraine bereitgestellt, die Rüstungsexporte nach Israel haben sich seit dem 7. Oktober verzehnfacht. Die deutsche Rüstungsindustrie expandiert, der Aktienkurs der Rheinmetall AG erreicht ständig neue Höchstwerte und die linksliberale Presse entdeckt ihre Faszination fürs Kriegsgerät. Die militärische Eskalation ist das Mittel der Wahl zur Verteidigung sogenannter westlicher Werte.
Der Tod tausender Menschen wird dabei zum unausweichlichen Kollateralschaden verharmlost und imperialistische Interessen völlig ausgeblendet.
Nachdem der Widerstand gegen die von Kanzler Scholz verkündete „Zeitenwende“ gering blieb, sind inzwischen regelmäßig Tausende Menschen auf den Straßen, um gegen die militärische Eskalation in Nahost zu protestieren.
In den Medien und von Politiker*innen werden diese Proteste als antisemitisch diffamiert und es findet eine starke Repression gegen die Palästina-Solidarität statt.
Die bedingungslose Unterstützung Israels ist deutsche Staatsräson. Menschenrechtsverletzungen und der Bruch des Völkerrechts spielen für die deutsche Politik keine Rolle.
Moshe Zuckermann wird darauf eingehen, wie und warum die Kritik an der israelischen Regierung in Deutschland tabuisiert wird und welche Auswirkungen dies bis hinein in die deutsche Linke hat.
Elbit Systems ist ein israelischer Drohnenproduzent, der auch in Deutschland Standorte hat. Elbit ist auf Platz 24 der weltweit größten Rüstungshersteller und militärischen Dienstleistungsanbietern im Jahr 2022. Vor allem in Großbritannien finden seit Jahren Proteste gegen den Kriegsprofiteur statt. Im Rahmen der Kampagne Shut Elbit Down haben sich mittlerweile auch in Deutschland Proteste formiert und es gab Aktionen am Produktionsstandort von Elbit in Ulm. Eine Aktivistin der Kampagne wird über ihre Aktivitäten und die Rolle der deutschen und israelischen Rüstungsindustrie sprechen.
Als Rheinmetall Entwaffnen haben wir uns schon vor der Verkündung der Zeitenwende konsequent gegen Aufrüstung, Militarisierung und jegliche deutsche Rüstungsexporte gestellt und Rüstungskonzerne blockiert. Im Hinblick auf unser antimilitaristisches Camp, das vom 3. bis 8. September in Kiel stattfinden wird, möchten wir über unsere Positionierung zum Gaza-Krieg sprechen und überlegen, wie wir Spaltungen überwinden und ein Zusammenkommen linker antimilitaristischer Kräfte erreichen können.

While a few years ago the German government claimed that no arms exports to war and crisis zones outside the EU and NATO would be authorised, this no longer has any meaning in times of war in Ukraine and Gaza.
Since 2022, Germany has provided 28 billion euros worth of military equipment for Ukraine, while arms exports to Israel have increased tenfold since 7 October. The German defence industry is expanding, Rheinmetall AG’s share price is constantly reaching new highs and the left-liberal press is discovering its fascination with war equipment. Military escalation is the means of choice in defence of so-called Western values.
The deaths of thousands of people are trivialised as inevitable collateral damage and imperialist interests are completely ignored.
After resistance to the „turning point“ announced by Chancellor Scholz remained low, thousands of people now regularly take to the streets to protest against the military escalation in the Middle East.
In the media and by politicians, these protests are defamed as anti-Semitic and there is strong repression against Palestine solidarity.
Unconditional support for Israel is the raison d’être of the German state. Human rights violations and breaches of international law play no role in German policy.
Moshe Zuckermann will discuss how and why criticism of the Israeli government is taboo in Germany and what effects this has on the German left.
Elbit Systems is an Israeli drone manufacturer that also has sites in Germany. Elbit is the world’s 24th largest defence manufacturer and military service provider in 2022. Protests against the war profiteer have been taking place for years, particularly in the UK. As part of the Shut Elbit Down campaign, protests have now also been organised in Germany and there have been actions at Elbit’s production site in Ulm. An activist from the campaign will talk about her activities and the role of the German and Israeli arms industry.
As Rheinmetall Disarm, we have consistently opposed armament, militarisation and all German arms exports and blocked arms companies even before the announcement of the turnaround. In view of our antimilitarist camp, which will take place in Kiel from 3 to 8 September, we would like to talk about our position on the Gaza war and consider how we can overcome divisions and achieve a coming together of left-wing antimilitarist forces.
