Konzert und Gespräch mit dem Dichter, Musiker und Anti-Kasten-Aktivisten Sambhaji Bhagat

Wir freuen uns sehr, bekannt geben zu dürfen, dass Sambhaji Bhagat, ein erfahrener Dichter, Musiker und Aktivist aus dem marathisprachigen Westen Indiens, für ein Konzert und einen öffentlichen Vortrag nach Berlin kommt.

Bhagat ist seit den 1970er Jahren eine prominente Stimme in der Anti-Kasten-, Ambedkar- und Linken-Bewegung. In den folgenden Jahrzehnten beteiligte er sich an mehreren bedeutenden Kämpfen, darunter die Textilfabrikstreiks von 1982 und die Marathwada-Universitätsbewegung.

Bhagats eindringliche Poesie und sein kraftvoller Musikstil haben neue Maßstäbe in der rebellischen Musiktradition Indiens gesetzt. Seine Stimme und seine Kompositionen waren auch in Chaitanya Tamhanes international gefeiertem Film „Court” aus dem Jahr 2014 zu hören.

Concert and conversation with poet, musician and anti-caste activist Sambhaji Bhagat
Location: “Subkontinent”, Donaustraße 84 (Berlin-Neukölln; U7 stop “Karl-Marx-Straße”).
We are thrilled to announce that Sambhaji Bhagat, veteran poet, musician and activist from Marathi-speaking western India will be in Berlin for a concert and public talk.
Bhagat is a prominent voice in anti-caste, Ambedkarite, and Left movements since the 1970s. He partook in several notable struggles in the following decades including the textile mill strikes of 1982, Marathwada University Movement among many others.
Bhagat’s searing poetry and powerful musical style have set new standards in the rebellious music traditions of India. His voice and compositions were also featured in Chaitanya Tamhane’s internationally acclaimed 2014 film ‘Court’.
