Seien Sie dabei bei einem Abend voller kritischer Filme, gemeinsamer Reflexion und gemeinschaftlicher Fürsorge – mit zwei eindrucksvollen Dokumentarfilmen:
1. Palestine in the Eye
Dieser Film unter der Regie von Mustafa Abu Ali ist eine Hommage an Hani Jawharieh – palästinensischer Widerstandskämpfer und Gründungsmitglied der PLO Film Unit –, der 1976 während Dreharbeiten zu Kampfhandlungen im Libanon getötet wurde. Der Dokumentarfilm verwebt Jawhariehs eigenes Filmmaterial, darunter die letzten Aufnahmen, die er vor seinem Tod gemacht hat, mit Interviews mit seiner Witwe und seinen Kameraden.
2. Palestinian Women
Dieser Film unter der Regie von Jocelyne Saab verstärkt die oft vergessenen Stimmen palästinensischer Frauen* im Kontext des palästinensischen Befreiungskampfes. Ursprünglich von Antenne 2 (Frankreich) in Auftrag gegeben, wurde der Film in der Schnittphase zensiert und nie ausgestrahlt. Die von uns gezeigte Version wurde speziell für eine Retrospektive des Konservierungszentrums der Cinemateca Portuguesa restauriert.
Nach den Vorführungen findet eine Diskussion über das Kino der palästinensischen Revolution, das militante Bild und die Frage statt, wie die Verankerung im Kampf für Filmemacher und Künstler heute aussehen könnte.

Join us for an evening of critical cinema, collective reflection, and community care — featuring two powerful documentaries:
1. Palestine in the Eye
Directed by Mustafa Abu Ali, this film is a tribute to Hani Jawharieh — Palestinian resistance filmmaker and founding member of the PLO Film Unit — who was killed in 1976 while filming combat in Lebanon. The documentary weaves together Jawharieh’s own footage, including the final frames he shot before his death, alongside interviews with his widow and comrades.
2. Palestinian Women
Directed by Jocelyne Saab, this film amplifies the often-forgotten voices of Palestinian women* in the context of the Palestinian liberation struggle. Originally commissioned by Antenne 2 (France), the film was censored in the editing stage and never aired. The version we’re showing was specially restored for a retrospective by Cinemateca Portuguesa’s conservation centre.
After the screenings, we’ll host a discussion on the cinema of the Palestinian revolution, the militant image, and what embeddedness in struggle might look like for filmmakers and artists today.
