„Concerning Violence“ handelt von den Aufständen, die zur Entkolonialisierung Afrikas führen sollten und ist damit ein Rückblick auf Befreiungsbewegungen in Angola, Mozambique, Tansania, Liberia und Guinea-Bissau.
Der Film unterstreicht die Notwendigkeit antikolonialer Gewalt als Reaktion auf systemische koloniale Unterdrückung und zeigt in einer Vielzahl von Szenen die menschlichen Kosten des Imperialismus und des Kampfes für die Freiheit.
Dabei verbindet ‚Concerning Violence‘ Fernseharchivmaterial aus den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren mit Fragmenten des historischen Text ‚Die Verdammten dieser Erde‘ vom antikolonialen Vordenker Frantz Fanon.
Gesprochen werden die Texte von der Musikerin Lauryn Hill.
Wir wollen den Abend nutzen, um Geld für die Bleiberechtskämpfe von zwei Freunden zu sammeln, um Anwälte und Mieten zu bezahlen.

„Concerning Violence“ is a documentary essay about the anti-colonial uprisings in Africa, specifically in Angola, Mozambique, Tansania, Liberia and Guinea-Bissau.
Juxtaposing archival material from the 1960s and 1970s with fragments from Frantz Fanon’s paradigmatic text ‚The Wretched of the Earth‘, the film highlights the necessity of anti-colonial violence as a response to systemic colonial oppression, featuring a diverse range of scenes depicting the human cost of imperialism and the fight for freedom.
The texts are voiced by musician Lauryn Hill.
