Bibliothek für alle! Nein zum Kulturkampf in der Ingeborg-Drewitz-Bibliothek und zur Zensur des Bibliotheksprogramms.
Dafür Ja zum gemeinsamen unzensierten Häkeln und queeren Lesen für alle!
@q_queerspace geht als Gruppe für junge Queers gemeinsam zur Kundgebung.
Wie teilen diesen Aufruf und sind nicht die Organisator*innen der Kundgebung:
„Warum protestieren wir für eine Bibliothek für alle?
Bezirksbibliotheken sind eigentlich keine Orte politischer Auseinandersetzungen.
Frau Sijbrandij (CDU) ist Stadträtin für Bildung, Kultur und Sport in Steglitz-Zehlendorf und sieht das anders.
Sie veranlasste Änderungen im Programm der Bibliothek aus ideologischen Gründen:
– 2 Drag-Lesungen für Kinder wurden abgesagt, obwohl solche Lesungen bisher kein Problem waren.
– Die Gruppe „Häkeln gegen den Ökozid“ musste sich umbenennen in „Häkeln für die Zukunft“.
– Aus der Biografie von Magda Wystub, Autorin von „Queere Tiere“ @queeretiere wurde herausgestrichen, dass die Autorin lesbisch und atheistisch ist.
Wir finden das nicht akzeptabel.
Bibliotheken sind Treffpunkte für alle Menschen im Bezirk.
Nicht jeder Programmpunkt muss konservativen Traditionalisten gefallen.
Wir sind eine kleines Kollektiv aus Steglitzer*innen, die am Montag, 31.08.26, 16-18 Uhr auf dem Hermann-Ehlers-Platz eine Kundgebung organisieren.
Die Kundgebung ist unsere Reaktion auf die zensorischen Eingriffe von Bezirksstadträtin M. Sijbranij in das Programm der Ingeborg-Drewitz-Bibliothek.

Wir wollen auf die Eingriffe aufmerksam machen, weil wir davon überzeugt sind, dass Bibliotheken Orte für Alle im Bezirk sind und als solche geschützt werden müssen.
Politiker*innen dürfen sie nicht als Schauplatz für einen Kulturkampf nutzen – insbesondere nicht, in dem sie Narrative von rechts-außen propagieren.“

A library for everyone! No to the culture war at the Ingeborg Drewitz Library and to the censorship of the library’s programme.
Instead, yes to shared, uncensored crochet sessions and queer reading for everyone!
@q_queerspace is attending the rally as a group for young queer people.
We are sharing this call to action but are not the organisers of the rally:
“Why are we protesting for a library for everyone?
Local libraries are not, in principle, places for political disputes.
Ms Sijbrandij (CDU) is the councillor for education, culture and sport in Steglitz-Zehlendorf and sees things differently.
She initiated changes to the library’s programme for ideological reasons:
– Two drag readings for children were cancelled, even though such readings had never been a problem before.
– The group ‘Crocheting Against Ecocide’ was forced to rename itself ‘Crocheting for the Future’.
– The fact that Magda Wystub, author of “Queere Tiere” @queeretiere , is lesbian and atheist was removed from her biography.
We find this unacceptable.
Libraries are meeting places for everyone in the borough.
Not every item on the programme has to please conservative traditionalists.
We are a small collective of Steglitz residents organising a rally on Monday 31 August 26, from 4 pm to 6 pm, at Hermann-Ehlers-Platz.
The rally is our response to the censorship imposed by District Councillor M. Sijbranij on the programme of the Ingeborg Drewitz Library.

We wish to draw attention to these interventions because we are convinced that libraries are places for everyone in the borough and, as such, must be protected.
Politicians must not use them as a stage for a culture war – particularly not by propagating narratives from the far right.“
