Weiter geht’s mit einem Klassiker des expressionistischen Horror-Stummfilms:

Der Pianist Paul Orlac verliert bei einem Unfall seine Hände und erhält die eines hingerichteten Mörders.
Die Angst, diese könnten seinen Willen beeinflussen, treibt ihn zunehmend in die Verzweiflung.
Regisseur Robert Wiene, bekannt durch Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari, verbindet in Orlac’s Hände psychologisches Drama mit Elementen des Horrors.
Mit Conrad Veidt in der Hauptrolle gilt der Film als frühes Beispiel für das Motiv des Identitätsverlusts im Kino.

It’s slowly getting colder and we’re getting ready for the second part of our silent film series ‘Nights of Silence’.
We continue with a classic of expressionist horror silent film:
✋ Orlac’s Hands (1924, directed by Robert Wiene)
Pianist Paul Orlac loses his hands in an accident and receives those of an executed murderer.
The fear that they could influence his will drives him increasingly into despair.
Director Robert Wiene, known for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, combines psychological drama with elements of horror in Orlac’s Hands.
With Conrad Veidt in the lead role, the film is considered an early example of the motif of loss of identity in cinema.
