Angesichts der aktuellen Präsidentschaftswahlen in Kolumbien, der jüngsten Entdeckung eines weiteren Massengrabs (2025) und der Neuberechnung der sogenannten „False-Positive-Fälle“ auf nunmehr 7.837 Opfer halten wir es für angebracht, über Krieg und Erinnerung in Kolumbien nachzudenken.
Wir werden den Film „Under Silence and Earth“ (FR/ES, Untertitel EN) ansehen und anschließend über Krieg und Erinnerungskultur von unten diskutieren.
„Under Silence and Earth“ (2021): Aus dem Exil in Frankreich setzt die Filmemacherin das Puzzle ihrer vom bewaffneten Konflikt geprägten Familiengeschichte zusammen – auf der Suche nach dem Massengrab, in dem ihre Tante von der kolumbianischen Armee begraben wurde.

War and Memory in Colombia

With current the presidential elections in Colombia, the recent discovery of yet another mass grave (2025) and the recalculation of so-called „false positive cases“ to now 7 837 casualties, we find it timely to reflect on war and memory in Colombia.
We will watch Under Silence and Earth (FR/ES sub. EN) and afterward discuss war and memory culture from below.
Under Silence and Earth (2021): From exile in France, the filmmaker pieces together the puzzle of her family story marked by the armed conflict in the search of the mass grave where her aunt was buried by the Colombian army.
