Straßenumbenennung
Maji-Maji-Allee und Anna-Mungunda-Allee werden eingeweiht
Am 23. August, dem Internationalen Tag gegen die Sklaverei, möchten wir mit Euch die Einweihung der Maji-Maji-Allee und der Anna-Mungunda-Allee im sogenannten Afrikanischen Viertel in Berlin feiern.
Endlich verschwindet der alte Straßenname Petersallee, der viel zu lange an den Kolonialverbrecher Carl Peters, dem Begründer der Kolonie „Deutsch-Ostafrika“, erinnerte.
Die neuen Namen erinnern dagegen an Anna Mugunda, die in Namibia gegen die Apartheid kämpfte, und an den Schlachtruf der Widerstandsbewegung gegen die deutschen Kolonialtruppen in Tansania „Maji-Maji“ (Swahili für Wasser).
Beginnen möchten wir die Einweihung der neuen Straßennamen mit einem Gedenkmarsch in Erinnerung an die gefallenen Widerstandskämpfer:innen im Maji-Maji-Krieg gegen den deutschen Kolonialismus und alle Widerstandskämpfer:innen gegen Kolonialismus und Rassismus weltweit.
Dazu treffen wir uns um 13 Uhr an der Ecke Kamerunerstraße/Müllerstraße.
Ab 15 Uhr geht es dann mit unserem Umbenennungsfest auf dem Manga-Bell-Platz weiter.
Seid an diesem besonderen Tag mit dabei und ladet Freund:innen und Bekannte ein.

Street renaming
Maji-Maji-Allee and Anna-Mungunda-Allee are inaugurated
On 23 August, the International Day against Slavery, we would like to celebrate with you the inauguration of Maji-Maji-Allee and Anna-Mungunda-Allee in the so-called African Quarter in Berlin.
The old street name Petersallee, which for far too long commemorated the colonial criminal Carl Peters, the founder of the ‘German East Africa’ colony, is finally disappearing.
The new names, on the other hand, commemorate Anna Mugunda, who fought against apartheid in Namibia, and the battle cry of the resistance movement against the German colonial troops in Tanzania ‘Maji-Maji’ (Swahili for water).
We would like to start the inauguration of the new street names with a commemorative march in memory of the fallen resistance fighters in the Maji-Maji War against German colonialism and all resistance fighters against colonialism and racism worldwide.
We will meet at the corner of Kamerunerstraße and Müllerstraße at 1 pm.
From 3 pm, we will continue with our renaming festival on Manga-Bell-Platz.
