2015 wurde die Stadt Kobanê durch den heldenhaften Widerstand der kurdischen Streitkräfte sowie mehrerer Internationalist:innen vom IS befreit.
Daraufhin startete die SGDF eine Kampagne, um Spenden, wie Spielzeuge und andere Güter zu sammeln, und diese nach Kobanê zu bringen.
Im Anschluss an die Kampagne machten sich Jugendliche, Student:innen, Arbeiter:innen und Internationalist:innen der SDGF und weiterer Organisationen auf den Weg, um die zerstörte Stadt wiederaufzubauen.
Dabei erfuhren die Teilnehmenden Schikanen des türkischen Staates.
Als Antwort darauf hielten sie am 20. Juli 2015 eine Pressekonferenz in einem Kulturzentrum in Suruç – an der Grenze zwischen Nordkurdistan und Rojava – ab.
Bei dieser Veranstaltung führte ein IS-Kämpfer im Auftrag des türkischen Staates ein Attentat aus, bei dem 33 Revolutionär:innen ermordet und 74 weitere verletzt wurden.
11 Jahre nach diesem Massaker ist es wichtig, den Gefallenen zu gedenken und ihren revolutionären Kampf weiterzuführen.
Sie waren zum Teil Student:innen wie wir, die damals die Notwendigkeit internationaler Solidarität erkannt und praktisch werden lassen haben.
Noch immer nehmen sich Student:innen in der Türkei den Campus ihrer Universität, um Gerechtigkeit für das Suruç-Massaker zu fordern.
In der Geschichte hat sich internationale Solidarität immer wieder als unsere stärkste Waffe gegen Kriege und Krisen weltweit bewiesen.
Lasst uns deshalb mit dem Suruç-Massaker auseinandersetzen und von anderen Student:innen, die ihre bedingungslose Solidarität auf der Seite der Unterdrückten gezeigt haben, lernen!

In 2015, the city of Kobanê was liberated from IS thanks to the heroic resistance of Kurdish forces and several internationalists.
Following this, the SGDF launched a campaign to collect donations, such as toys and other goods, and deliver them to Kobanê.
Following the campaign, young people, students, workers and internationalists from the SGDF and other organisations set out to rebuild the devastated city.
In the process, the participants faced harassment from the Turkish state.
In response, they held a press conference on 20 July 2015 at a cultural centre in Suruç – on the border between Northern Kurdistan and Rojava.
During this event, an IS fighter acting on behalf of the Turkish state carried out an attack in which 33 revolutionaries were murdered and a further 74 were injured.
Eleven years after this massacre, it is important to commemorate those who fell and to continue their revolutionary struggle.
Some of them were students like us, who at the time recognised the need for international solidarity and put it into practice.
Students in Turkey are still occupying their university campuses to demand justice for the Suruç massacre.
Throughout history, international solidarity has time and again proved to be our strongest weapon against wars and crises around the world.
Let us therefore come to terms with the Suruç massacre and learn from other students who have shown their unconditional solidarity with the oppressed!
