Ein Jahr Rojava – Gespräch mit einem Internationalisten
Die Revolution in Rojava ist schon lange Bezugspunkt für emanzipatorische Bewegungen und freiheitssuchende Menschen weltweit. Seit 12 Jahren findet dort auf der Grundlage von Frauenbefreiung, Ökologie und radikaler Demokratie eine Revolution statt.
Die selbstverwaltete Region Nord- und Ostsyrien steht für eine Hoffung, ein selbstbestimmtes Leben jenseits von Patriarchat, Kapitalismus und Staat aufzubauen.
Die Revolution ist seither von vielen Gefahren bedroht. Ob von dem sog. Islamische Staat, der zwar von den Selbstverteidigungskräften YPG / YPJ militärisch besiegt wurde, jedoch immer noch mit Schläferzellen in der Region aktiv ist.
Oder von der Türkei, die 2018 und 2019 Teile des selbstverwalteten Gebietes besetzt hat, in denen die Bevölkerung seitdem täglich von islamistischen Söldnern Willkür und Gewalt ausgesetzt ist.
Wie auch kürzlich im Oktober diesen Jahres, kommt es auch im Verlauf des letzten Jahres zu massiven Luftangriffen der Türkei auf zivile Infrastruktur. Diese Angriffe sollen die Lebensgrundlage der Menschen zerstören und sie zur Flucht zwingen.
Der permanente Drohnenkrieg, der gezielt Vorreiter:innen der Revolution ins Ziel nimmt, ist ebenso eine anhaltende Realität. Wirtschaftsembargos gegen die Region und die sich zuspitzende Klimakrise bringen weitere Herausforderungen mit sich.
Ein Internationalist, der nun für ein Jahr vor Ort war, möchte von der Geschichte der Revolution, den Erlebnissen und dem Widerstand der Menschen, die er vor Ort getroffen hat, berichten. Auch möchten wir auf eure Fragen eingehen und gemeinsam ins Gespräch kommen.

One year of Rojava – conversation with an internationalist
The revolution in Rojava has long been a point of reference for emancipatory movements and freedom-seeking people worldwide. For 12 years, a revolution has been taking place there on the basis of women’s liberation, ecology and radical democracy.
The self-governing region of North and East Syria stands for the hope of building a self-determined life beyond patriarchy, capitalism and the state.
Since then, the revolution has been threatened by many dangers. Whether from the so-called Islamic State, which was militarily defeated by the YPG/YPJ self-defence forces, but is still active with sleeper cells in the region.
Or Turkey, which occupied parts of the self-governing territory in 2018 and 2019, where the population has since been subjected to daily arbitrariness and violence by Islamist mercenaries. As was recently the case in October of this year, there have also been massive airstrikes by Turkey on civilian infrastructure over the course of the last year.
These attacks are intended to destroy people’s livelihoods and force them to flee. The permanent drone war, which specifically targets pioneers of the revolution, is also an ongoing reality. Economic embargoes against the region and the worsening climate crisis pose further challenges.
An internationalist who has now been on the ground for a year would like to talk about the history of the revolution, the experiences and the resistance of the people he met on the ground. We would also like to answer your questions and start a dialogue together.
