Far-right slogans and chants in the neighbourhood, in pubs and late-night shops. Racist, anti-feminist and anti-queer (physical) attacks in the neighbourhood. A growing presence of organised Nazis.
The shift to the right isn’t stopping at Kreuzberg either.
We expect the situation to escalate, particularly in the run-up to the upcoming Berlin House of Representatives election in September.
The fascist AfD is acting as a catalyst for resentment that could make living together in Kreuzberg (and beyond) a difficult experience.
On the day of the World Cup final, we are therefore moving our café to the courtyard of the Regenbogenfabrik.
Two weeks after the AfD party conference in Erfurt, we want to provide an opportunity to share experiences over coffee, cold drinks and delicious cake, and to discuss possible actions against right-wing and authoritarian developments in Kreuzberg (and beyond) – not just because of the election.
From 5 pm to 6 pm, we’ll hold a round-table discussion on how we can show that there are many of us who oppose the shift to the right.
How can we ensure that our numbers grow even further?
The roundtable discussion is also an opportunity for Kreuzberg-based initiatives to exchange ideas and introduce themselves.
Our little get-together will round off with live music.
About us:
We meet on the third Sunday of every month, featuring talks and discussion sessions on a variety of topics.
Our motto, ‘Cake & Criticism’, is very much at the heart of what we do.
