Anhand eigens erhobener Daten und sorgsamer Recherchen liefert das Buch die Anatomie eines Systemversagens irgendwo zwischen Stereotypen, Selbstzensur und Staatsräson.
Als Journalist hat Fabian Goldmann aus dem und über den Nahen Osten berichtet, als Islamwissenschaftler die Wirkung orientalistischer und rassistischer Weltbilder untersucht und als Medienkritiker stereotype und diskriminierende Berichterstattung offengelegt. Mit diesem Buch bringt er all das zusammen.

In Germany, more than in almost any other country, the media have, since 7 October 2023, downplayed, justified or simply concealed the deadly reality in the region.
This investigation reveals the methods employed by Tagesschau, BILD, Spiegel, taz and others, and how well-trained journalists could become propagandists for a genocide.
Drawing on data collected by the author and meticulous research, the book provides an anatomy of a systemic failure lying somewhere between stereotypes, self-censorship and reasons of state.
As a journalist, Fabian Goldmann has reported from and on the Middle East; as an Islamic studies scholar, he has examined the impact of Orientalist and racist worldviews; and as a media critic, he has exposed stereotypical and discriminatory reporting. In this book, he brings all of this together.
