📢Die Filmvorführung und die Diskussionsrunde finden auf Englisch statt.
Der Science-Fiction-Dokumentarfilm „Lyd“ von Rami Younis und Sarah Ema Friedland zeigt die vielfältigen Vergangenheiten, Gegenwarten und Zukünfte der Stadt Lyd in Palästina/Israel.
Aus der Perspektive der Stadt selbst wird der Zuschauer durch die Lebensgeschichte einer fünftausend Jahre alten Stadt und ihrer Bewohner geführt.
Lyd war einst eine blühende palästinensische Stadt mit einer reichen Geschichte.
Als 1948 der Staat Israel gegründet wurde, wurde Lyd zu einer israelischen Stadt, und dabei wurden Hunderte palästinensischer Einwohner von Lyd von israelischen Streitkräften massakriert, und die meisten der 50.000 palästinensischen Einwohner der Stadt wurden vertrieben.
Heute hat die Stadt eine jüdisch-israelische Mehrheit und eine palästinensische Minderheit und ist von Rassismus und Gewalt geprägt und gespalten.
Der Film wagt die Frage:
Wie würde die Stadt aussehen, wenn die israelische Besetzung von Lyd nie stattgefunden hätte?
Im Anschluss an die Vorführung findet eine Diskussion über die Vergangenheit und Gegenwart der palästinensischen Nakba mit dem Regisseur Rami Younis statt.
Die Veranstaltung wird von der Interventionistischen Linken Berlin organisiert.

Movie Screening and Q&A on the past and present of the Palestinian Nakba

📢 The screening and Q&A will be in English.
The feature-length, sci-fi documentary „Lyd“ by Rami Younis and Sarah Ema Friedland shares multiple pasts, presents, and futures of the city of Lyd in Palestine/Israel.
From the perspective of the city herself, the viewer is guided through the lifespan of a five-thousand-year-old city and its residents.
Lyd was once a thriving Palestinian city with a rich history.
When the State of Israel was founded in 1948, Lyd became an Israeli city, and in the process, hundreds of Lyd’s Palestinian residents were massacred by Israeli forces, and most of the city’s 50,000 Palestinian residents were exiled.
Today, the city has a Jewish Israeli majority and a Palestinian minority and is disinvested and divided by racism and violence.
The film dares to ask the question:
what would the city be like had the Israeli occupation of Lyd never happened?
The screening will be followed by a discussion on the past and present of the Palestinian Nakba with the director Rami Younis.
The event is organized by Interventionistische Linke Berlin.
